Reverse Osmosis (RO) is normally used as a pre filtration system ahead of waster di-ionization system. To avoid membrane fouling in this application a softener and Sodium Bisulfate as an oxidizer is also used to protect the membrane. The application of this technology in wastewater has not been quite popular due to extensive pre-treatment requirement.
